BREASTFEEDING COOKIES
To increase milk production, nothing beats the action of putting the baby to the breast as often as possible! But as they say, there is no harm in spoiling yourself while doing so! Some herbs and plants are traditionally known to increase milk production. Oats and yeast are part of it.
Breastfeeding cookies (12 cookies)
Ingredients
¾ cup margarine or ghee*
⅓ cup of cane sugar or coconut sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup oat flakes
½ cup shredded coconut
2 tablespoon ground flaxseed
½ tablespoon yeast
2 eggs
Note: Oatmeal is available everywhere. Otherwise, simply grind the oats in the blender to make a powder that will serve as flour.
* There are dozens of recipes and videos on the web for making ghee, which is actually clarified butter, and therefore easier to digest.
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Melt ghee or margarine over medium heat in a small cauldron. Add sugar, spices and mix until sugar is well dissolved. In a large bowl, combine all other ingredients except eggs. Add the butter mixture and eggs. Stir with a spoon. Shape the dough into cookies and place on a nonstick baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
